Protocol: n00b wallets

n00b wallets are non-custodial smart contract wallets attached to any social media account like Twitter/Discord/GitHub/etc…and you create a n00b wallet on behalf of someone else…not yourself…completely permissionlessly and composable with other apps (see on Dune here).

App Layer: Lensmo

We built the Lensmo app to send tokens and airdrops across any social network, both Web2 or Web3. You enter a username on Twitter/Discord/Github or Lens/ENS and the app finds a verified recipient wallet address if it exists (Lens, ENS) otherwise sets up a n00b wallet for the recipient automatically…without them downloading an app or needing a seed phrase. The recipient can receive any token/NFT into the wallet, and when they are ready in the future, they can claim all accrued value and assets through a social attestation. 🔐

Problem: Scaling to 1B wallets 🌎

Web3 needs to scale to 1 Billion wallets, yet mainstream user onboarding is broken.

• On the web, 90-9-1 rule states 90% of users just read content while only 10% post…so why do we expect 100% of web3 users to do “write” actions?

• Instead, let everyone on the planet has a Web3 wallet by default 🌎 to receive airdrops, donations, tips, royalties, and more.

Solution

n00b wallets are the first non-custodial wallet that existing crypto users can create on behalf for their friends, family, customers, and colleagues…all without seed phrases or a custodian to trust.

The wallets are attached to the recipient’s Twitter/GitHub or other social media account, so the sender can’t touch any of the assets, only the recipient. The recipient can claim the wallet at anytime in the future via a social attestation.

n00b wallets are fully composable, meaning you can see which wallet belongs to which social media account onchain (see on Dune here).

2. Setup a n00b wallet for your kid and deposit $100 staked ETH earning Aave yield every month. DeFi savings account.

• DAOs & crypto projects want to airdrop to twitter/discord users, marketing on social networks, or send their NFT to pre-wallet holders.

• Businesses want to set up wallets for their customers to hold loyalty points and rewards but without their customers going through confusing onboarding.

How it Works

n00b wallets are the protocol & Lensmo is one app built on top.

n00b wallets

n00b wallets are built on top of the Gnosis Safe (now Safe DAO) with an added Zodiac modifier to do the social attestation, called the TrustedTxModifier. Additionally, n00b wallets are tagged onchain via Soulbound Tokens (EIP-4671) and then posted to Lens Protocol. In the future, a Lens profile will be created for the n00b wallet as well, describing attached social media account.

Lensmo App

The Lensmo app is the first application built on top of n00b wallets, and it allows sending any NFT or token on Polygon to social media account via n00b wallets. We expect other applications to be built on top of n00b wallets in the future.

n00b.network

At scale, we expect millions of n00b wallets to be created for mainstream users reluctant to set up their own non-custodial wallet. Businesses can set them up for customers, gaming studios can set them up for users, and web2 social media sites can set them up for tipping, stickers, and other use cases.

Gifts, donations, loyalty points, NFTs, yield, and more will be held by these wallets, secured by the Gnosis Safe (Safe DAO), until the recipient is ready to claim their wallet and onboard into Web3. n00b.network is a bet on the growth of the Web3 ecosystem and expansion beyond early adopters.

$n00b Tokenomics

After the n00b.network hits reached $20M in TVL, the following tokenomics will be considered by the DAO:

• Referral fee for onboarding new users into Web3 by creating n00b wallets for them to claim.

• Retroactive airdrop to the creators of n00b wallets with >$100 value stored or >10 NFTs stored.

• Payment in $n00b for oracles that verify and sign transactions to claim wallets.

• Protocol to consider revenue opportunities like 1) a wallet claiming fee, 2) referral fee for in-wallet swaps, or 3) yield opportunities on top of protocol TVL.

Our goal is for the network value of n00b to grow along with the growing adoption of Web3 as measured by monthly transacting users (MTU) wallets.

Future Development

• Integrate other apps creating n00b wallets - Integrate other apps to set up n00b wallets, not just Lensmo.

• Better notifications for recipients - We’ll explore solutions like EPNS and others to notify users when they are dropped NFTs or tokens.

• Private payments - We’ll explore adding support for shielded airdrops so the contents of a drop are hidden from the outside world.

• Add tipping to other Web2 networks - Add support for other Web2 applications like Wikipedia, StackOverflow, Reddit, Linkedin, etc.

• Add airdrop support on other networks - Add support for other blockchain networks like Optimism, Arbitrum, Aptos, and Avalanche.
